Wide and uncrowded, Coronado beaches are the perfect outdoor playgrounds for kids and adults. The Southern California weather is temperate and from mid-April through late September. The sand appears to sparkle, which is actually the presence of the mineral Mica, also known as sugar sand. Here is a list of the most popular sandy spots:
Coronado Central Beach
Runs along Ocean Boulevard with a backdrop of fine homes and mansions all the way south to the Shores Condominiums. Restrooms and shower facilities are available to the public. Lifeguards are on duty seasonally. Public fire rings and the Coronado Dog Beach are located at the north end.
Free limited parking is available on Ocean Boulevard and at the Coronado Shores Condominiums public parking lot.
Glorietta Bay Beach
Located South of the Hotel del Coronado and City Hall, the Glorietta Bay Beach offers a unique view of the Glorietta Bay and the San Diego Coronado Bridge. Adjacent to the small beach area is a large grass-filled park, restrooms, playground equipment, and fire rings.
Silver Strand State Beach
The beach is located 4.5 miles south of Coronado Village along the Silver Strand. Fire rings, lifeguards, restrooms, and showers are also available at this location. An underpass allows access to the Bayside beach and picnic area and Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Hours vary by season and there is an $8 parking fee. Overnight RV camping is available at $25 -$30 per night for RVs over 21 feet; $23-$28 for seniors; State Park Disabled: $12-$15. For more information, call (619) 435-5184.

There is a small, sandy beach by the Coronado Ferry Landing, adjacent to fishing/ferry pier as well as a grassy lawn with sweeping views of the San Diego Bay. Public restrooms are available as well as limited free parking. Call (619) 435-8895 for more information.
